Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Selamat Datang Brickfields

Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 2016. Getting out of the Philippines is somewhat easier than getting in – the airport bus was running and frequently, no terminal fee from NAIA terminal 3, well, at least not for me. Immigration is efficient, no queuing and once by the departure gates one can see right across the airport – yes, a few hours of plane watching! Wifi is good too, best signal is from the gate 101 area, handy because thats the gate I need for my flight to Kuala Lumpur later. Western food inside the place is pricey as one would expect but there is just one restaurant serving up local favorites –  and it’s pretty tasty, only around £2.50 for a meal.

So, tanked up on food and drink that should last me the next 4 hours it’s time to fly away into the sunset – south towards Kuala Lumpur and another Brickfields stopover

3 hours 20 minutes to KL and again no window seat on this Air Asia Airbus, yes I’m definitely slipping up!. Well, its dark so nothing to see anyway. That is until the Kuala Lumpur metropolis comes into view. An awesome view of the night time KL scene. A record 20 minutes from plane to the downtown bus – that’s one advantage of arriving late evening, light immigration queues at KLIA2! And here go’s another Brickfields stopover – Selemat Datang Malaysia, its always good to be in Malaysia, especially good to be in Kuala Lumpur.

  1. Love that the local food which tastes so much better, is also the cheapest option. Isn’t that the greatest? Makes it that much easier to skip on the Western food.
