Taipei, Taiwan, April 2016. Here’s a look at the price of goods in Taipei. The exchange rate hovers around 45 Taiwanese Dollars to the British Pound making somethings pretty expensive – especially toiletries, dairy products and beverage ingredients, particularly in the city. Out of town and things can be a little cheaper but in general shopping around Taipei is on a parr with British prices. There are a few bargains though – the local MacDonald’s can be good value for those seeking a Western fix.
So, starting with out of town, in a suburb called Tamsu which seems to be where to find the bargain shops. For a quick conversion, double the Dollar price, put a decimal point after the first digit if its less than 999 or the 2nd digit over 999 – and add 10p, I think 🙂 give it a try!
And now for some city shopping. These prices taken at a Carrefour supermarket in Ximending.
